What is the GMC TurboMax™ Engine?
The GMC TurboMax™ engine can be found in new GMC trucks, which are made to tackle even the biggest builds and toughest off-road trails. Designed to provide exceptional power, this 2.7-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine is an alternative to larger V8 engines and still offers an impressive power output and capability rating. It’s available in the GMC Sierra and GMC Canyon, and it produces 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. In the GMC Canyon, it offers a maximum towing capacity of up to 7,700 pounds. In the GMC Sierra it increases to 9,500 pounds.
How to Service and Care for Your GMC TurboMax™ Engine
In order to keep your GMC TurboMax™ engine operating at top capacity, there are a few simple maintenance and service practices you’ll want to follow. The most important thing is to schedule regular GMC service including oil changes, making sure to use synthetic oil. Turbo engines often run hot, meaning the oil burns off more quickly and needs to be replaced more often. You also want to make sure you replace the air filter and spark plugs regularly, and schedule inspections for the Active Fuel Management system.
